Volunteer Stations and Descriptions

Setup and Cleanup volunteers will help get the final touches for the finish line of the race course setup and other logistics for setup on the beach, as well as tear down and cleanup after the event. Setup includes race prep the day before the event as well as early morning before the event begins. The cleanup crew will assist tearing down from the event and cleaning the beach area. This is a physical intensive activity.

Registration & Hospitality volunteers will help register all race participants, mark all swimmers, handout shirts and caps, and also assist in setting up refreshments for all race participants during the event and make sure everything is stocked up.

Kayakers volunteers will be in the water helping to monitor all race participants along side of the Rescue Squad. We do have a limited supply of extra kayaks, however it is recommended that all kayak volunteers provide their own kayaks.

Race Timing volunteers will be hand-timing each swimmer’s finish and recording the times to complement the computer timing and race finish order recordings, as well as keeping track track of the number of swimmers in the water throughout the race to assist race safety personnel. Hand timers will need an appropriate coach’s sport stopwatch capable of keeping 100 splits. We will have a limited supply of additional watches just in case.

Race Finish volunteers will be in the water at the finish line to assist swimmers as they finish the race and direct them to the race finish recorder. This includes confirming each swimmer’s order of finish and recording the order of finish to compliment the computer timing.

Runners volunteers will assist in transporting results and race status between the finish line recorder, the head timer, and the computer timer.

As Needed volunteers will assist in any area as needed and will need to work with the race directors and race referee where assistance is needed.
